Liaising with Internet Service Provider

• By necessity web sites need to sit on web servers accessible to the public and an Internet Service Provider (ISP) provides this hosting. Thomas Internet Studios is a ZWnet Internet Partner: ZWnet is an exceptional Canadian ISP which provide excellent facilities including technical support, however dealing with tech support can take a great deal of time and trouble even if one has a degree of expertise. Thomas Internet Studios has our own account manager and direct line to ZWnet, and part of the Thomas Internet Studios service to clients is to liaise with ZWnet on their behalf saving them hours of time, and trouble.
  

Backups of web sites

• Web servers are computers with specialized software installed and computers being computers can go wrong, files can get corrupted, overwritten or deleted. It is therefore essential that sites be backed up frequently.
  For example, we updated a client's web site, including adding two new sections, a new complex drop down navigation menu and a number of new photographs and uploaded the new files to the web server. The following day we had a call from the client asking what had happened to the site as it had 'reverted' back to its previous state. Liaising with the ISP we established a problem had occurred while they ran maintenance work on the server, and as a result all the recent work done on the site had been lost. Not so in this case as Thomas Internet Studios backup procedure ensures we could re-upload the new and amended files to the server and within ten minutes the clients site was back up-to-date.
  The Thomas Internet Studios backup routine is designed to minimize any potential loss of data and/or files and ensures that files can be quickly restored to the site. Based off our experience over a number of years we have found it prudent to run daily backups. This is done in the evening after normal office hours to ensure minimal loss of data should the site or any files need to be restored from the backups.

Search Engine Submissions (if ordered)

• Thomas Internet Studios currently submit manually to the following search engines: Yahoo, Google, Lycos and the Open Directory Project/DMOZ (used by a number of search engines for their results).
  The search engines we submit to don't charge, but some that do charge are actually powered by search engines that don't!. A number of our client sites are listed on MSN as well as our own site and this is because Thomas Internet Studios have carefully optimized their web sites to be search engine friendly.

Onsite Backup
